Tire Protection Plan and Roadside Protection Coverage
Revised as of 5/22/2025
TIRE PROTECTION PLAN
This Tire Protection Plan (TPP) is provided by the Sun Auto Tire & Service,
Inc. affiliated facility from which you purchased the tires and the TPP
coverage. TPP applies to the tires, original purchaser and the original
vehicle identified on the receipt. TPP is optional and the purchase must
appear on your receipt. TPP only applies to passenger and light truck tires,
which, during its tread life or within the covered period of time, becomes
unserviceable because of a road hazard. A road hazard occurs when a tire
fails due to a puncture, bruise or break incurred during the course of normal
driving on a maintained road. TPP coverage is valid for a period of 3 years,
36,000 miles of use, or until any portion of the tire is worn to 3/32 of an inch
or less (whichever occurs first). TTP coverage also includes Roadside
Protection Membership for 24 months – see details below.
TIRE MAINTENANCE
When TPP coverage is purchased with a tire, the tire will be balanced and
rotated free of charge at any participating facility. The existing TPP will
remain in effect after a tire is serviced. Tires should be rotated and balanced
every 6,000 miles. Damages or irregular wear caused by failure to rotate
your tires will not be covered.
OBTAINING SERVICE
If you are within 25 miles of a participating store, you should return to the
store for service.
If you are more than 25 miles away from the store or cannot find the nearest
participating location, please call our Nationwide program administrator for
Roadside Protection at 1-877-681-1616 and a service vehicle will be
dispatched to your location. Please have your invoice number, date of
purchase, vehicle information and the roadside membership account
number (with account number 680680) to be eligible for service.
TIRE REPAIR
If your tire is damaged due to a road hazard and can be safely repaired, the
tire will be repaired per manufacturer’s guidelines at any participating
facility. The existing TPP will remain in effect after a tire is repaired.
TIRE REPLACEMENT
If a tire becomes unserviceable because of a road hazard during the useable
tread life of the tire, it will be replaced with a new tire. If available, an exact
make/model replacement tire will be installed. If not available, a
comparable quality tire will be installed.
If the covered tire failure occurs within the first 24 months or 24,000 miles
of use (whichever occurs first), and cannot be safely repaired per
manufacturer’s guidelines, the tire will be replaced with coverage up to
100% of the original price paid for the tire.
After the first 24 months or 24,000 miles of use (whichever occurs first) and
before 36 months or 36,000 miles of use, the remaining value of the tire will
be credited towards the purchase of a replacement tire on a pro-rated basis.
The customer is responsible for installation, taxes, and other fees for their
new tire. A new TPP plan must be purchased for the new tire if the customer
wishes for it to be covered.
EXCLUSIONS
Not valid for vehicles used for commercial purposes or wheels 24” or larger.
Coverage excludes damage from off-road use, collision, fire, vandalism,
theft, snow chains, manufacturer’s defects, abuse and neglect (i.e.,
improper application, improper inflation, overloading, brake lock up, wheel
spinning, torque snags, etc.), cosmetic damage, sidewall abrasions or other
appearance items that do not affect the safety or performance of the tire.
Also excluded are damages or irregular wear caused by misalignment,
failure to rotate tires, mechanical failures or interference with vehicle
components, tires that have been repaired in a manner other than per
manufacturer’s guidelines. This plan covers only the tires registered to the
customer and listed by DOT number during the initial registration.
