Food insecurity affects more than 47 million people in the United States, including 14 million children and is a key driver of poverty.

Chris Garman

VP, Business Development

As Vice President of Business Development for Sun Auto & Tire Service, Chris oversees all mergers and acquisition activity and leads the new store development programs. Chris brings 20 years of experience and insight as the owner and operator of Wilhelm Automotive, acquired by Sun in 2019.

An Arizona native, Chris graduated with honors from Arizona State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Global Business Marketing and a Master of Business Administration. He spent his early years working for Pitney Bowes and a small architecture firm, before joining his family business in January of 2000. Garman grew Wilhelm to 9 locations, with over 100 team members, and strong links in the local community. He married his high school sweetheart, Kelly, and they currently reside in Phoenix with their two girls, ages 19 & 16.

Over the past 20 years, Chris has been active in his local community serving as past president and board member for The West Valley Mavericks and their foundation. He’s also served on the boards of Leadership West, Southwest Valley YMCA, and various other volunteer organizations. Additionally, he volunteered as a youth soccer coach and chaired several fundraising committees for the various organizations he served. In his spare time, Chris enjoys traveling, off-roading, camping, boating, and spending time with his family.

Carolyn Barnard

Chief People Officer

Carolyn Barnard is the Vice President of Human Resources for Sun Auto & Tire. Carolyn has over 20 years of Human Resources experience with 15 years in leadership roles. She currently oversees HR programs and initiatives that enhance the employee experience and partners with leaders across the organization.

Carolyn started her career working for non-profits including United Way and Dale Rogers Training Center. She spent eight years managing the Human Resources department for Schlotzsky’s company owned restaurants across multiple states. Before joining Lamb’s Tire & Automotive in 2012, Carolyn spent two years as a Dispute Resolution Officer at the State Comptroller’s office. During her time with Lamb’s, Carolyn was instrumental in finding a critical balance between the needs of the business and creating a culture of employee engagement and recognition. Carolyn holds a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SCP) certification, Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and is a certified mediator in the State of Texas.

In her free time, Carolyn likes the outdoors including hiking, paddle boarding and listening to live music. She also enjoys spending time with her two grown children and her dog, Daisy.
